We are from New Jersey and have a camp up in Dresden where we spend a lot of time along with our cat and two dogs. We always drove past the Northway Animal Emergency Clinic and remembered where it was in case we ever needed it. Well, we are spending Christmas at our cabin this year thanks to the mild weather, and late on Christmas Day our dog Angel began having trouble walking and was acting very strangely. So off we went to the clinic. The offices are spotless and Dr. Gallo and the staff were fantastic, very caring and welcoming even though they were working on Christmas evening! Of course by the time we got our dog there she was walking better... like the car you bring to the mechanic and then it stops making the funny noise... They gave her a thorough examination, found her anal glands were really full and expressed them, did a test for Lyme (negative). Dr. Gallo determined it must be something skeletal or muscular and prescribed Rimadyl, which has made her feel much better, and said to call him any time if there are further problems, that he'd be there all weekend. Such a relief to have a great place like this to take our dogs (or cat!) if needed. Highly recommended! And we thought the cost was quite reasonable as well.
My experience and review is only for Dr Greg Bayan. We had to bring our dog in, she was very sick and we also did not have very much money. We arrived around 6ish and our dog was seen right away, she was taken in back for about half an hour when we finally met the vet. Dr Greg Bayan. He explained the situation as kindly as possible and saw the fear in both my husband an myself faces. He had the vet tech put together two types of plans and prices, she was very helpful in explaining everything too. I asked for just the blood work to be done and they had no problem doing that. We found out that our baby had kidney failure among many other health issues and very sadly the vet told us he would recommend putting out girl to sleep. He comforted us and gave us all the time we needed to say goodbye to our girl. He also stayed with us during and after to comfort us more and tell us small stories to keep us positive. He kept reminding us that we made the right decision for her. It still hurts and will always hurt to loose a loving animal, but she is not in pain anymore and I wouldn't have asked for a better vet to help us through it!
In the spring time I brought my mini aussie Cody in - he was lethargic and very sick. They got me into a room in good time. I was panicky to see Cody acting that way. Dr. Bayan was very informative and knew exactly what to do, gave me all the information and steps I needed to bring Cody back to his normal self after eating bad steak out of the garbage. Very good staff and clean facility! Was very thankful for Dr. Bayan!
Terrible place to take a cat. She sat in her urine for three hours, had a UTI, and by the time the vet saw her all she said was "the labs have gone out today...you will have to follow up with your regular veterinarian next week", and it was a three day holiday weekend !!! Then she lied to me about something, (she didn't know that I heard her talking with the tech in the back hallway ), so she knew I was pissed when I was told I was being charged $95 just to wait there almost 4 hours and receive no care for my cat. She tried to cover for her actions and called my regular, local vet the next week. My local vet knew exactly what she was trying to do...cover her ass. Stay away from this place, even the office manager is rude.
I had to make the tragic decision to bring my very sick, and very old cat here for emergency euthanasia. Although I had scheduled an in-home euthanasia service for the next day, my poor girl just couldn't hold on anymore. I thought I would have regrets by taking her here, but I am very happy with my decision. Dr. Bayan and the rest of the staff are exceptionally kind professional.
To my surprise, I received a sympathy card signed by Hope, Lexi, Kelsey, and Dr. Bayan. Inside, they had all written me a note expressing their condolences. I was so impressed - it meant a lot to receive something so heartfelt. I will be forever thankful to Northway Animal Clinic for helping my best friend find her way to heaven after a long, happy life.
